Don’t forget Haiti.

NOW is the time to ACT. NOW is the time to REMEMBER. NOW is the time to GIVE. NOW is the time to PRAY. When the world begins to move on with their own lives; when the fundraising events are over; when people stop talking about what happened on that devastating, dark, January 12th; let us not FORGET them. Let us not FORGET their need. Let us not be IGNORANT and continue to give and pray. The world may move on, but Jesus will not. Let us be like him.

Here is an update for PRAYING for Haiti- but I encourage you to DO what you can. Whether that is continually praying, or continually giving, or if YOU can lead or be apart of a mission trip there… DO something please!

For The Widows In Paradise, For The Fatherless In Ypsilanti:

The Most Practical Wedding Dress

•February 1, 2010 • Leave a Comment

A Wedding day is preferably a once in a lifetime occurance. Women go around for months looking for the “perfect” dress- all for ONE day! Well hear ye folks- the most practical wedding dress by far: The Wedding Dress Cake. Killing two birds with one stone. And when the day is finished… so is your dress. I wonder if it comes in ice cream cake style…

Most pathetic/disgusting quote of the day

“Let’s be clear here, the ONLY victim of rape is the man. He is the one who let this little temptress tease him into commiting sin, and he is the one who the courts victimize and throw into prison, when this girl was probably dressed as a whore and just asking to be raped. If girls didn’t dress like prostitutes and sluts, poor men like this would poor men wouldn’t fall into their trap. It’s up to the girl to do the right thing, she obviously led this man on, and she should have to deal with the consequences. You play, you pay!”

Devastating that people actually reason like this. Maybe their theology is founded on Roy Masters?

**On a side note, I can’t stand when people type “tee hee” or “he he”**

Out of the devastating circumstances and loss in Haiti, I saw this picture and read this story, and all I could think of was how beautiful it was. Let’s keep praying for the Haitian people.

Read the small article here: http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/us_and_americas/article6997676.ece

“It’s how you age that is your choice, and that’s the beauty of modern science.”

Normally, I don’t like to read too much about plastic surgery. I have my opinions on it, but ultimately I just find the whole science of it rather sad than beautiful. But here is recent news of a “hollywood star”- Heidi Montag- that I am sure you might have heard something about. If not, check out the video. She just recently came out of hidding after having 10 plastic surgery procedures in one sitting. At the young age of 23, this is definately an extreme case, but it is devastating that plastic (*note the word plastic) surgery is viewed as an enhancement to the female figure.

Feel free to post your thoughts, and maybe we can generate a discussion about this cultural phenomenon. For instance, how far is too far? Is having even one surgery too far?

Hats off to Adam Hoskins for showing me this today. Little did he know it would take up hours of my time going through and watching all the videos. Enjoy :)

Personally, I am considering doing this sometime soon…

Ohhh… and this is too funny!

What the hell? This is revolting. I don’t even have any words to comment on this. Just watch for yourself.

But, then I read this response by Donald Miller. He brought much more than merely tearing about Pat Robertson (Rob Paterson …? ha). I encourage you to read this article.

“These people are often, themselves, controlling. They are wired to build empires, and in order to build empires you have to get people to do what you say, and if you have God standing behind you threatening hurt and pain, you can motivate people.”

“So here is what the Devil is really going to try to get you to do: Hate other people. Those conservatives, those Christians, those whoever…I think we’d be wise to watch out for that, and stop it at the point where it starts.”

“I like the quiet authenticity of our faith. Robertson’s loudness and shock-jock verbiage seems strange and oddly uncompassionate. It felt like he was trying to tell us how tough he was, not how compassionate God is.”

Who really has the time and interest in watching award shows if you’re not in them?

•January 19, 2010 • Leave a Comment

I didn’t watch the award show at all- too exhausted. But I stumbled across this hilarious recap of the award show and read it purely for the humor of the article (okay, I wanted to know who won…but so do you.)

check it:
(I especially will never think of Avatar the same after reading the comparison to Fern Gully. WHY DIDN’T I THINK OF THAT!?)
